The Three Tallest Buildings in Montgomery County

Although Baltimore has the 23-tallest buildings in Maryland, Montgomery County has the 24th and 25th-tallest buildings in the state. Montgomery County is not recognized for its skyscrapers. This article looks at Montgomery County’s three highest structures. Notably, the building currently rated third in height was surpassed by the two tallest structures in the county, both of which were built in the recent five years.


3. The tallest structure in Montgomery County used to be the Market East Tower, located at 11351 Woodglen Dr. North Bethesda, MD. This 24-story, 289-foot (88.1-meter) residential building was finished in 2010. For more than ten years, it was a prominent landmark along Rockville Pike in North Bethesda. It is now a part of a mixed-use development that also contains restaurants and retail spaces.

2. The second-tallest structure, The Elm (4710 Elm St. Bethesda, MD), was finished in 2021 and is a part of the Wilson & The Elm complex. With 29 stories and a height of 331 feet (101 meters), this residential tower offers opulent apartments along with a variety of facilities, such as a striking skybridge that connects it to The Wilson and offers expansive vistas.

1. The Wilson (7272 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD) is the highest structure in Montgomery County, with 25 storeys and an astounding height of 341 feet (104 meters). This imposing building, which was finished in 2021 and is mostly an office building, is an important part of the Wilson & The Elm mixed-use complex and greatly adds to Bethesda’s contemporary skyline.
