On Tuesday, July 15th, the Bagelry in Silver Spring will welcome a group of students with special needs for a unique and heartwarming experience. At 9:40 am, Steve, the owner of the Bagelry, will host eight middle school students, teaching them the art of making pizza bagels.
This event is more than just a cooking class; it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in a hands-on activity that combines learning with fun. Under Steve’s guidance, the students will learn how to prepare their own bagel pizzas, fostering a sense of accomplishment and creativity.
Steve’s dedication to the community is well-known, as he is actively involved with the Best Buddies program, which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Marty Chappell, the students’ teacher, tells us that for the past seven years (minus the interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic) Steve has been committed to hosting such events, enriching the lives of young students through culinary education and community engagement.
