Wrong-Way Collision on I-270 Kills Two

Two drivers were murdered in an early Friday morning wrong-way collision on northbound I-270 at Germantown Road, which Maryland State Police are looking into.


Police say that Jeremy De La Torre, 33, of Frederick, Maryland, and Ashley Salazar, 25, of Clarksburg, Maryland, are the deceased. Salazar drove a Chevy Cruz and was the only person inside. De La Torre was the only person inside a Honda Accord and its driver. Emergency medical care personnel from Montgomery County declared both of them dead at the site.

Troops from the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle collision near Germantown Road on northbound Interstate 270 just before three in the morning. According to the preliminary inquiry, the Chevy impacted the Honda while driving south in the northbound lanes of I-270 for an unidentified cause.

I-270 northbound lanes are all blocked. The road closure is being assisted by Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration personnel. On the site, Montgomery County Police Department officers are also providing assistance.

The inquiry into the crash is still ongoing.
