Even though the Fourth of July is over, Montgomery County still offers a number of fantastic chances to see fireworks displays this Saturday, July 5.
Kensington: Albert Einstein High School (11135 Newport Mill Road, Kensington) will host the Mid-County Sparkles festival this Saturday, July 5. Downtown Sound will perform live at 7 p.m. to kick off the celebration, and at 9:15 p.m., there will be a fireworks display.
Only those with impairments are permitted to park on the high school’s property. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., there will be free general parking and shuttle service from Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Road, Wheaton). Because cars may be towed at the discretion of the property owner, attendees are asked not to park at the mall before 6:30 p.m. Visitors can find designated parking lots and shuttle stops with the help of directional signage.
Olney: The popular FIREWORKS GAME, which pits the Olney Cropdusters against the Silver Spring Takoma Thunderbolts at OBGC Park tonight, will blend baseball and fireworks. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the game starts at 6:30 p.m. The Zambelli pyrotechnics pyrotechnics display is set to start at approximately 9:30 p.m.
A Parking Pass for $12 Those who choose to watch only the fireworks can enter the grounds starting at 7:30 p.m. with a ticket. Adult tickets cost $18 for full access to the game and fireworks, while children under the age of 11 enter free of charge when an adult is present. Attendees can sit in the recently built grandstand, on the lawn, or bring their own chairs. Taste Inc., KONA ICE, and Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company will serve food and beverages all night long. The Town of Poolesville, the Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce, and UMCVFD are supporting the event, and first responders are volunteers.
