F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre to Reopen in August Following Accessibility and Sound Upgrades

The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at 603 Edmonston Dr. in Rockville will formally return in early August 2025 after being closed since December 17, 2024, for renovations aimed at enhancing accessibility and sound, including changes to meet ADA standards.

According to the City of Rockville, after nine months of repairs to enhance accessibility and sound, the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and its social hall will shortly reopen.

The box office is expected to reopen on Tuesday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. The theater will fully reopen on Friday, September 5th with a performance by the Victorian Lyric Opera Company.

Enhancing safety and adhering to Americans with Disabilities Act requirements were the main goals of the improvements. The theater, dressing rooms, and lobby have all undergone renovations. Wheelchair accessibility was added, and the box office and facilities were enlarged. The theater’s sound quality was improved and aided listening devices became more efficient with the installation of new speakers. For safer and simpler access, the ADA-seating area was enlarged and altered.
