Now that pool season has arrived, it’s time to have fun, unwind, and create memories in your backyard. However, it’s important to go over a few important poolside rules before everyone jumps in. Knowing the dos and don’ts can help you avoid mishaps, safeguard your equipment, and make sure everyone has a fun and safe time at the pool, whether you own one or are a visitor. At Watercrafters, we think that having a clean pool is just one factor; a secure atmosphere is crucial.
Poolside Don ts
Avoid running close to the pool.Speed with slick conditions equals mishaps. Encourage children to walk quietly by modeling it for them.
Don’t let anyone dive in shallow water. It may result in severe harm. Make sure everyone knows where the safe diving spots are, or better yet, stay away from them completely.
Avoid swimming in stormy conditions.Get out of the pool right away if you hear thunder or see lightning. Water can carry lightning. Everyone should stay inside for at least half an hour after the last thunderclap if there is any.
Don’t put too many people, toys, or floats in your pool.Excessive weight or obstruction can lower circulation and harm equipment. These can block views of the ocean and present tripping risks. Put everything away neatly when not in use.
Avoid hanging electrical cords or lights over the pool.Despite their festive appearance, overhead string lights pose a major safety risk. Water and electricity don’t mix. Use landscape or ground-level lighting that is rated for pool areas instead.
Never leave kids unsupervised.Even experienced swimmers might run into problems very fast. There is no compromise on adult supervision.
Don’t disregard malfunctioning equipment. It’s probably worth getting checked out if something doesn’t seem right. Making sure that all of the equipment is effective and functioning correctly is essential for both your safety and the health of your pool.
Poolside Do s
Before swimming, take a shower. It lessens perspiration, oils, and lotions that might clog your pool’s filter and alter the chemistry of the water.
Always keep an eye on swimmers, especially young ones.Adult supervision is necessary even for proficient swimmers. Never leave a child alone by the water, even for a little period of time. Drowning can occur in a matter of seconds and is silent. During events, designate a Water Watcher to keep an eye on the pool.
Use safety gear and make sure your pool area is secure. To prevent kids and pets from unintentionally entering the pool, install fencing, latches, and pool alarms. Verify that the drain covers and life rings are in excellent operating condition. Safety should always come first.
Do make safe use of appropriate illumination.Always have a licensed professional install pool lighting that is rated for damp conditions. Avoid placing waterproof, UL-listed fixtures near overhanging spans.
Make sure your pool area is kept clean. To prevent trip hazards, keep walkways clear of towels and equipment, and take away toys and floats when not in use.
Check the chemistry of your pool on a regular basis.Water that is balanced shields your pool’s surfaces and equipment from damage and avoids discomfort. Uncertain of how to maintain equilibrium? Inquire about our weekly upkeep schedule!
Do create and implement pool rules.Injuries can result from pushing people, running, or diving in shallow water. Establish clear expectations and make your pool a safe place.
