Sardi’s to Open Five New Maryland Locations

Established in 2008 by Montgomery County cousins Phil E. and Phil G. Sardelis, Sardi’s Pollo A La Brasa recently revealed intentions to open five more locations in Maryland. Despite having Greek ancestry, the cousins had a strong love for Peruvian food and wanted to create a welcoming environment where families could gather to enjoy real, fresh food.


In the summer of 2008, the first Sardi’s Pollo A La Brasa opened its doors in Beltsville, Maryland (Prince George’s County), and it immediately became well-known for its pollo a la brasa, a blackened rotisserie chicken that has been around since the 1950s in Lima, Peru. The creators even went to Peru to hire talented chefs in order to guarantee the highest level of authenticity.

Owner Phil Sardelis informed us that more Loehmann’s Plaza stores in Rockville (Montgomery County), New Carrollton (Prince George’s County), Frederick (Frederick County), Annapolis (Anne Arundel County), and Waldorf (Charles County) will open within the next year.

Sardi’s has experienced incredible development since opening and currently serves millions of consumers annually at several sites in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The restaurant takes pleasure in using local, fresh products and making its sauces and meals according to traditional Peruvian recipes. Initiatives like the Sardi’s Scholarship, which was created in memory of co-founder Phil G. Sardelis, further demonstrate Sardi’s dedication to community involvement.
