Following a stolen vehicle pursuit on June 27 that resulted in foot chases, the seizure of three loaded handguns, and other criminal charges, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) arrested two adults and three children, including a 13-year-old.
Officers were traveling near Old Columbia Pike and Tech Road (Fairland) on Thursday, June 27, 2025, at around 4:21 p.m., when they came across a stolen silver Hyundai Elantra, according to MCPD. Despite officers’ efforts to halt it, the Hyundai kept driving north on Columbia Pike. All five suspects fled after the Hyundai turned right onto Fairland Road, collided with the median, and came to a stop at the intersection of Copland Court and Fairland Road.
The suspects were pursued and captured by officers in neighboring communities.
Nyveek Ross, 18, of Silver Spring, and Kamonte Frazier, 19, of Columbia, were the two adult male suspects.
Officers found one of the 16-year-old suspects’ bags in a forested area. Officers found a loaded weapon inside the bag.
Two loaded handguns were discovered in the other 16-year-old’s possession; one had been reported stolen, and the other had had its serial number taken off.
The 13-year-old was accused of stealing a car. He was returned to his guardians’ custody after his case was forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Services.
The two 16-year-olds, Ross, and Frazier were taken to the Central Processing Unit in Montgomery County. Ross and Frazier were charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing and impeding, and offenses relating to vehicle theft. Frazier and Ross were freed on unsecured personal bonds of $5,000 and $500, respectively.
Obstructing and impeding, disorderly conduct, car theft, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other charges were brought against the two 16-year-olds as adults.
