The 180 Ft. Capital Wheel Relaunches With New $1 Million Light Package That Allows For Custom Messages and Displays

Published On:

The Capital Wheel at National Harbor reopened earlier this year with a brand-new, $1 million light package that included major technological advancements. More lights have been added to the famous 180-foot observation wheel, enabling more dynamic light shows with fast-paced animations, personalized messages, and eye-catching displays.

The Capital Wheel’s sophisticated lighting system increased its frame rate from 16 to over 40 frames per second, enabling animation along with crisper visuals, more vivid colors, and interactive displays. The Wheel is now able to display corporate colors and/or simple logos.

Organizations can also host an event at Flight Deck, a cocktail bar with a view of the waterfront that is located just below the Wheel. From there, they can watch the sun set over the Potomac and see the colors and special light show.

Kent Digby, Executive Vice President of Asset Management, Operations, and Marketing at National Harbor, described the show as stunning. Additionally, it’s a fantastic tool for businesses and groups to advertise their conferences and gatherings. The light show features are wonderful and a special way to add flair to a business gathering or meeting.

Two personalized light packages are offered. An evening of lights on the Capital Wheel with customizable colors that may be arranged to create a light show is included in the base package. A custom branded photo backdrop where all attendees can take a personalized souvenir photo with the organization’s logo or any other wording is part of the premium package. The event will also be promoted on screens throughout the Capital Wheel and Flight Deck on the day of the event. A personalized message emphasizing the planning and sponsorship of the light show, which is broadcast over the speaker system all day, is also included.

The light displays start at sunset and continue until ten o’clock at night. The starting price is $3,000. When conference attendees discover their company’s logo appears on The Capital Wheel, it’s a hilarious surprise. Digby said, “The reactions are really special.”
