According to information released by the City of Gaithersburg, the Olde Towne Commercial Parking Pass program will undergo modifications and a new Residential Permit Parking (RPP) scheme will be implemented on July 1, 2025. Accessibility, parking availability, and general traffic control will all be enhanced by the new modifications.
According to City Manager Tanisha Briley, the revised parking laws are meant to address persistent issues on specific City streets and in parking lots under City management. These issues include a lack of parking spaces, hazardous traffic, congested streets, elevated air and noise pollution, hazards to pedestrian safety, and interference with the enjoyment and use of private property.
Under the new RPP program, all current residential permit parking zones will stay in existence, with no modifications made to their restrictions or enforcement hours. Even for people who already have a valid parking permit, a new permit must be obtained by July 1.
The Olde Towne Commercial Parking Pass program has been modified to include an automated application and renewal process for parking permits, each of which is linked to a particular vehicle. Passes are only available to users in buildings without on-site parking, and eligible firms are permitted to use up to two automobiles.
