MCDOT has finished a walkability study for Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, Lake Seneca Elementary School, and Waters Landing Elementary School as part of a countywide effort to find accessible and safe pathways for students to walk and bike to school. In order to increase safety and accessibility for children who walk or bike to school, the study evaluated the state of the infrastructure currently in place and suggested changes for each school’s walkshed. MCDOT will provide concept plans for new sidewalks and safety improvements at different sites around the walkshed during this virtual community meeting.
The following road segments are being considered for sidewalks:
-
Teakwood Lane
between Willow Cove Manor driveway entrances connecting to existing sidewalk network on both sides of segment.
-
Wisteria Drive

-
Winterspoon Lane
interior of the street loop connecting back to existing sidewalk along Wisteria Drive.
-
Waldorf Drive
east side from Wisteria Drive to Wynnfield Drive.
-
Walnutwood Lane
interior of the street loop.
-
Wanegarden Drive
west side from Lake Seneca Elementary School entrance to Wynnfield Drive.
