In honor of the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which struck down Roe v. Wade and terminated the federal constitutional right to an abortion, Governor Wes Moore released a message on Tuesday.
Maryland is and always will be a safe haven for women’s reproductive rights, as we have stated since the first day of our administration.
I was honored to join our state government partners earlier this year in formally incorporating a person’s fundamental right to reproductive freedom into the Maryland State Constitution. And we’ll keep doing everything we can to insure that future generations have the same access to reproductive rights that Marylanders do now.
One thing is clear in this time of great uncertainty for our state and nation: In Maryland, we defend our citizens, advance access to necessary healthcare, and defend fundamental rights. That hasn’t changed and never will.
