The 21-year-old Lawrence Marshall IV faces up to 60 years in prison after entering a guilty plea in Montgomery County Circuit Court to second-degree murder and use of a pistol in the 2023 shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend, Cederic Warner, during a fight in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office reports that on July 5, 2023, Marshall got into a fight with Warner, his mother’s lover, in her Silver Spring residence located in the 11000 block of Lockwood Drive. The main topic of contention was Marshall’s missing dog. He accused Warner of being responsible for the dog’s escape, according to witnesses. Marshall killed Warner by shooting him many times with a revolver.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant State’s Attorneys John Lalos and Gabriel Carrera.
