Maryland’s Community Parks and Playgrounds Initiative Set to Transform Playgrounds Across The State

Published On:

Thanks to Maryland’s Community Parks and Playgrounds program, the City of Rockville is about to make a major improvement to one of its parks. The playground at Fallsgrove Park will be replaced using $225,000 from Rockville’s FY 2026 budget, which was approved by Governor Wes Moore.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is currently taking grant applications for FY 2027 to carry out this crucial work, which is a part of a larger project to rejuvenate parks and playgrounds around the state.

As part of the Fallsgrove Park project in Rockville, safety surfaces will be added and old playground equipment will be replaced with brand-new, cutting-edge installations. New benches and an ADA-compliant entrance will also be added to guarantee everyone’s comfort and accessibility. The $5 million allotted for 26 projects spread over 15 counties in the FY 2026 budget reflects a broader commitment to enhancing communal spaces, of which this project is a part.

The goal of Maryland’s Community Parks and Playgrounds program is to make investments in the future of the state’s established communities. To date, over $92 million has been approved for over 880 projects.
