A guy has been taken into custody by Maryland State Police in relation to a shooting that occurred late Wednesday evening on Interstate 83 in Baltimore County. Investigators think the perpetrator may also be connected to three other shootings along Pennsylvania’s I-83 that happened the same evening.

Christian Ramos, 28, of Aurora, Illinois, is the suspect. Three counts of attempted first-degree murder and associated felonies are against him. Ramos is awaiting his initial appearance in Cecil County District Court. He is also facing a separate firearm charge in Cecil County.

On June 18, 2025, a driver contacted 911 to report that his Toyota Prius had been shot while heading south, prompting troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack to arrive on southbound I-83 at Shawan Road just before midnight. There were three people in the car, including a two-year-old. There were no reported injuries.

After processing the victim’s car, crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division discovered a projectile stuck in the front seat and a bullet hole in the passenger-side window. After examining dashcam evidence and speaking with witnesses, investigators from the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative took over the investigation and named Ramos as a suspect.

At the time of the incident, Ramos is thought to have been driving a tractor-trailer owned by Tag Trans Inc. On Thursday, investigators found the car at the TA Travel Center in Elkton, where they safely arrested Ramos. A loaded.45-caliber handgun, several hundred rounds of ammo, and many expended shot casings were found by police after they executed a search and seizure warrant on the tractor-trailer.

Subsequently, investigators discovered that three gunshots that took place Wednesday night along Pennsylvania’s I-83 between 10:00 p.m. and midnight are also being looked into by Pennsylvania State Police. As the inquiry goes on, police are looking for other victims. The Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative is asking anybody who was on I-83 in Maryland or Pennsylvania on Wednesday night and has dashcam footage or information about the shootings to call 410-538-1887.

As part of its commitment to making Maryland communities safer, the Maryland Department of State Police is taking proactive measures to handle any reported instances of gun violence on our state’s highways. In their investigations into the killings of Nyah Hairston, Charles Marks, and Delonte Hicks, police are still looking for information. Police encourage anyone with information about these investigations or other gun-related offenses on the highways to phone 410-538-1887 to speak with investigators. Callers can stay anonymous.
