Trooper Struck by Suspected Impaired Driver on I-495

While conducting a crash investigation on I-495 early on Saturday morning, a Maryland State Trooper was hit by a car and taken to the hospital before being released. Teo Kim, the car’s driver, may have been intoxicated, and accusations are still pending.


While investigating a crash on the Capital Beltway early on Saturday morning, a Maryland State Trooper was hit, according to the police. After being taken by EMS to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, the trooper, who was assigned to the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack, was later released.

Teo Kim, 34, of Hanover, Maryland, was the driver of a gray Tesla and was taken to Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center via ambulance.

Troops from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack arrived at the scene of an inner loop I-495 mishap at Greenbelt Road at around 2:44 a.m. after receiving a report of a trooper-involved collision. According to the preliminary inquiry, the trooper was conducting a crash investigation in his marked patrol vehicle when Kim’s gray Tesla struck the back of the police vehicle, which had all of its emergency lights on. According to investigators, impairment might have had a role in the collision.

The inquiry is being led by the College Park Barrack of the Maryland State Police. Charges are pending consultation with Prince George’s County’s Office of the State’s Attorney. The investigation is still in progress.
