Gaithersburg Man Fatally Stabbed in Southeast D.C.; Suspect Charged in Domestic Incident

A 30-year-old Gaithersburg man was fatally stabbed in a Southeast D.C. apartment on June 13, and a 25-year-old D.C. woman has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder while armed in what police say was a domestic incident.

According to The Metropolitan Police Department, “On Friday, June 13, 2025, at approximately 2:28 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the report of a stabbing inside of a residence in the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and recovered a knife.

The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Devante Offutt of Gaithersburg, MD. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 25-year-old Deja Hines of Southeast, DC was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. The detectives’ investigation determined that the offense is domestic in nature.”
