Legendary physical education teacher Nikki Williams has retired after 31 years at Montgomery Village Middle School, marking an illustrious career in education that spans 35 years.
Along with teaching P.E., Williams served as the school’s athletic coordinator for several years, leaving an indelible impact on students and the community. In a fitting tribute to her legacy, the school has renamed the gym’s basketball court in her honor– now officially known as Nikki Williams Court.
Beyond the classroom, Williams made her mark on the sports world as a Hall of Fame professional football player. She dazzled fans during her career with the D.C. Divas, playing from 2002 to 2009, 2011 to 2012, and 2014, and later returned as a receivers coach. Her contributions were further recognized in 2017 with an induction into the D.C. Divas Hall of Fame.
Our very own Alex Tsironis, a Montgomery Village student from 1994 to 1996 who later worked with Williams in 2007, shared his admiration for the legendary teacher. He stated, “Ms. Williams was the P.E. teacher everyone wanted to have in middle school, and when I worked with her a decade later, it was even more evident why– she was knowledgeable, fun, and just overall cool… always a pleasure to be around.”
