Piccoli Piatti has just installed permanent signage at its upcoming restaurant at Westbard Square (5400 Westbard Ave. Bethesda, MD). An opening date is not yet available, but the restaurant appears to be close to opening.
Piccoli Piatti is a popular Italian restaurant that opened its first location at 19257 Old Georgetown Rd in Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center. The restaurant is known for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas and a diverse menu of other Italian dishes. The name “Piccoli Piatti” itself means “small plates” in Italian, and while pizza is a major draw, the restaurant also offers a selection of appetizers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches.
They emphasize using high-quality ingredients, including flour imported from Italy and tomatoes from San Marzano. Their pizzas are cooked in a high-temperature Marra Forni oven, resulting in a thin crust with characteristic charred spots and a chewy texture from a 3-day fermented dough.
Beyond pizza, popular menu items include arancini, various salads like the burrata and beet salads, and pasta dishes such as bolognese and homemade gnocchi. Piccoli Piatti’s owner Francis Namin previously owned Red Tomato and Centro, which were both located in downtown Bethesda. He also owns Fish Taco, which has three Montgomery County locations (and one
coming soon to Gaithersburg
), as well as one location in Tysons Corner with one coming soon to Falls Church.
