Montgomery County Leaders Condemn Politically Targeted Shootings in Minnesota

Published On:

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Montgomery County Executive and County Council released a statement condemning the politically motivated shootings in Minnesota, expressing solidarity with the victims and calling for the rejection of political violence.

We are horrified and outraged by the tragic and politically motivated shootings that occurred in Minnesota today.

Our hearts go out to the families of Ms. Hortman and her husband in their immeasurable grief, as well as to Senator Hoffman and his wife as they recover from this horrific act.

As elected leaders and public servants, we recognize that dissent, policy disagreements and debate are fundamental to democracy but violence must never be tolerated. These senseless shootings strike at the very heart of civic life and threaten the conduct of public service itself.

We emphatically reject any justification for political violence and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to civil discourse and democratic process.

Today, we stand in solidarity with all Minnesotans under shock and fear. We call on all leaders and citizens to condemn this violence unequivocally, and to reinforce a nation where elected officials, regardless of party, can live and work without fear of harm.”
