The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has charged 38-year-old Bulfrano Martinez-Maldonado with first-degree murder in connection with the December 2024 stabbing death of Mynor Rene Lara Salguero, after DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
According to MCPD, “On Monday, December 16, 2024, Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the 8000 block of Blair Mill Road (Silver Spring) for a person down. Upon arrival, officers located 49-year-old Mynor Rene Lara Salguero suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lara Salguero’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy was conducted. His death was ruled a homicide. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that 38-year-old Bulfrano Martinez-Maldonado was with the victim shortly before his death. Martinez-Maldonado was arrested on an outstanding warrant in January 2025 in Washington, D.C. Following his arrest, a DNA sample was obtained.
The Montgomery County Crime Laboratory analyzed the DNA collected from Martinez-Maldonado and determined that it was connected to Lara Salguero’s homicide. On June 10, 2025, detectives obtained a warrant charging Martinez-Maldonado with first-degree murder.
Martinez-Maldonado is currently being held in a detention center in Arizona, where he awaits extradition to Montgomery County.”
