A Potomac guy had no intention of playing the lotto, but he changed his mind after hearing a friend’s tip. A $50,000 top prize win on the $5 FAST PLAY Double Win game was the outcome. On May 19, the Montgomery County guy bought the ticket at the Safeway grocery located at 10104 River Road in Potomac. He only had to take one glance to know he had a huge winner.
At the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on August 1, he claimed the windfall. Among his numbers was 39, with $50,000 as the prize amount displayed beneath it. The top reward was won by thirty-nine, which was also listed as a winning number. In response to a question about his plans, he said he just intended to use some of the funds to travel to Pakistan, his native country. A bonus of $500, or 1% of the total prize money, is given to Safeway.
